EDPUZZLE
Hi!!!
Creating this video using Edpuzzle for the first time has been such a grateful experience since it has been my first time using it. I chose this video since it explains the difference between “will” and “be going to” step by step comparing each different use of each of them. For example, we use “will” for spontaneous decisions and “be going to” for already planned future actions. In the video, both uses which are opposite are compared at the same time so that students can identify the difference between them quickly.
Among the objectives that I wanted to fulfill, we can find: to listen and understand specific information from oral texts in different communicative situations. To do so, the ideal thing is to use different sources such as videos, audios, that may be found on the Internet emphasizing the globalization of English as a language for international communication. Another key objective would be to develop the learner's autonomy, think about the learning processes and apply knowledge and communication strategies acquired from other languages to the target one. This would be accomplished by using this video since students will be constantly asked questions throughout the video not only for checking their understanding of it, but also for making them reflect upon their own learning so that they know in which ways they learn best. Using learning strategies and available resources such as ICT and audiovisual media was another objective to fulfill. Finally, valuing the foreign language as a means of access to information and as a tool for learning different contents and developing the ability of learning to learn. Furthermore, using the foreign language as a tool of communication and understanding among people of diverse origin and culture is a very important objective to fulfill.
What I did was to play the video in class. I just gave a short introduction explaining to them that we have different ways of expressing the future in English and that, among them, we find “will” and “be going to”. Before playing the video, I wrote two different examples on the board so that they could get the structure and uses from them. Then, I played the video and I read the notes and questions aloud. I randomly chose one student each time so that all of them payed attention to the video since they didn’t know who was going to be asked. I was guiding them until they knew the rules by themselves so that the learning was meaningful. Students enjoy the video since they are not used to watch these types of videos that stop to ask you questions to see if you are paying attention. Most of them were interested in answering the questions.Next time, I will definitely include more questions since they like it.
I share with you the video I have just created using Edpuzzle. Now, I'm dealing with future tenses in 2ESO and I think that the video that I have created will help them in this process of learning.
